SLP licenses are renewed every two years in Oregon. The renewal system opens in the online portal during September so licensees can begin the process before the December 31st due date. If the application is not received on time it will expire on January 30th of the following year.
The Board sends a renewal notice to the address on file with the following information:
Applications must be postmarked by December 31st of the renewal year, correctly filled out, and include the non-refundable fee of $395 or $270 after May 1st.
All licensees are required to acquire 20 hours of professional development. At least one hour must be on cultural competency. Other accepted activities are academic courses, conferences, workshops, and programs conducted in person or remotely.
Self-study courses that require you to take an exam at the end and are Board-approved are other accepted professional development activities. Another way to earn credit for the required PD hours is to have articles about speech-language pathology published in peer-reviewed journals.

Earn these hours before December 31st and keep a copy of the certifications verifying completion for at least four years. Should you be audited by the Board during the renewal cycle you will be required to produce your professional development documentation.
